The Gina Ogden Curatorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides funding for early-career researchers and therapists to explore holistic approaches to sexuality through research and therapeutic practices at the Kinsey Institute.
The Gina Ogden Curatorial Scholarship for Integrative Approaches to Sex Research and Therapy is a distinctive opportunity designed to promote holistic and inclusive inquiry into sexuality through research and therapeutic exploration. Established through contributions from Dr. Gina Ogden and other supporters, the scholarship encourages work that reflects the integrative ethos of Dr. Ogden’s Four-Dimensional Wheel framework. This model emphasizes physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of sexual experience and healing, aiming to inspire scholars and practitioners to move beyond narrowly defined biological or behavioral paradigms. Administered by the Kinsey Institute, the scholarship supports early-career researchers, therapists, and other qualified individuals over the age of 18 who demonstrate a commitment to this multidimensional approach. Up to two recipients are selected annually, each receiving a $3,000 award intended to fund a research visit of approximately 4 to 8 weeks at the Kinsey Institute in Bloomington, Indiana. The funded visit must be completed within one year of receiving the award. During this time, scholars are expected to contribute meaningfully to the Kinsey Institute collections—whether through annotated bibliographies, finding aids, or digital presentations—and to produce a tangible scholarly or practical output such as a book proposal, therapy model, or educational resource. Applicants must show familiarity with Dr. Ogden’s integrative model and submit a robust application package that includes a cover letter, a curriculum vitae or resume, a letter of reference (sent directly by the referee), a 1,000-word summary of research interests and objectives, and a proposal (400–800 words) describing how they intend to contribute to the Kinsey collections. International applicants are welcome but must hold a valid visa eligible for scholarship or fellowship awards, and must clearly indicate their visa type when applying. In addition to the monetary award, recipients benefit from opportunities for further professional development. As of the current cycle, editors at Routledge have expressed willingness to review book proposals based on scholarship work. Recipients also receive a one-year certified membership in the 4-D Network, subject to approval by the network's directors, further integrating them into a community of practitioners and researchers focused on multidimensional approaches to sex therapy. The application deadline for the upcoming cycle is February 13, 2026. Awardees will be announced on April 17, 2026, and the supported research projects must be completed by December 4, 2026. Questions about the application process can be directed to kinsey@iu.edu or by phone at (812) 855-7686. The Gina Ogden Curatorial Scholarship remains a tribute to Dr. Ogden’s legacy and continues to expand the field of sexuality research through its support of transformative, integrative scholarship.
