Municipal Decarbonization Planning Assistance

This opportunity provides municipal decarbonization planning assistance to eligible Massachusetts municipalities that are working toward Climate Leader Community certification. The Department of Energy Resources will provide consultant-led assistance to develop a municipal decarbonization roadmap, either through desktop analysis for communities with complete building inventory data or through facility condition assessment plus roadmap development for communities that need help cataloging building characteristics. The program is intended for municipalities that can commit to working with assigned consultants and supplying the information and documents needed to complete the assignment. Assistance is delivered as consulting services rather than a cash grant, and Green Communities will fund 100 percent of those consulting services. Applications are accepted on a rolling schedule until July 31, 2026 or until available funding is exhausted.
