Immunization and Vaccines for Children

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), through its National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), is offering a funding opportunity titled "Immunization and Vaccines for Children" under the funding number CDC-RFA-IP19-19010101SUPP24. This opportunity is part of a Competing Continuation - Type 2 cooperative agreement under Assistance Listing Number 93.268. It aims to support recipients of the 19-1901 Immunization and Vaccines for Children program to enhance their jurisdiction-based immunization information systems (IIS) through the integration of a newly developed Vaccine Tracking System (VTrckS) application programming interface (API). The API allows for the submission and receipt of vaccine order files and related data directly from these systems to VTrckS, thereby streamlining operations and reducing manual burden. The CDC expects to award approximately $2.8 million across up to 7 recipients, with an average award amount of $300,000, subject to the availability of funds. These funds are intended for a 12-month budget period starting August 1, 2024. The opportunity does not require cost sharing or matching. This funding opportunity specifically targets jurisdictions that have developed their own IIS platforms and are not planning to transition to CDC-funded technology platforms in the next two years. Applicants that have already completed Phases 1 and 2 of API implementation may apply only for Phase 3 activities. Eligible applicants are limited to current CDC-RFA-IP19-1901 recipients. If a jurisdiction shares an IIS with another, only one may apply. Additional eligibility includes jurisdictions currently using the VTrckS ExIS interface, those using awardee-developed IIS platforms (with or without CDC-funded partner support), and those not transitioning to a CDC-funded platform soon. Applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov no later than May 28, 2024, by 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Applications must include a Project Abstract, Project Narrative (not to exceed 10 pages), and a detailed Budget Narrative. The narrative must cover background, approach, performance measurement, organizational capacity, and a work plan. Evaluation criteria include the quality of the approach, performance measurement strategies, and organizational capacity. Performance outcomes will align with Healthy People 2030 objectives, particularly in the area of Vaccination. The program does not support research or clinical care activities. Recipients must also develop dashboards for monitoring and error handling of the API transactions and report on project outcomes, including successful CDC integration tests and signed information exchange agreements.
