Grant Description

The GO TEXAN Marketing Enhancement Grant Assistance (MEGA) Program, administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), supports Texas-based agricultural businesses by offering targeted funding for marketing and promotion efforts. Specifically, the Product Promotion (GTP) Grant under this program is designed for GO TEXAN Product Partners at Tier 2 or higher to enhance the visibility and sales of Texas-grown, produced, or value-added products. The program operates on a cost-reimbursement basis and is not intended to cover general business expenses, inventory, or non-marketing staff costs. The grant aims to promote certified Texas agricultural products and reinforce the GO TEXAN brand through strategic advertising, branding, digital outreach, and participation in trade events. Eligible uses of funding include digital and traditional media campaigns, trade show booths, promotional materials, professional design services, and website enhancements. These activities must be directly tied to increasing market exposure and brand recognition of GO TEXAN-certified products. Eligible applicants must be current Tier 2, Tier 3, or Champion-level GO TEXAN Product Partners in good standing. Good standing requires that registration is active and in compliance with all program terms, including fee payments and account status. Additionally, applicants must be physically located in Texas or have their principal place of business in the state. Associate Partners—such as retailers, communities, or festivals—are not eligible. Furthermore, applicants with familial or business relationships with TDA employees are disqualified, and those who have received $40,000 in MEGA awards in the past seven years are also ineligible. The 2026 application period opens on March 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM and closes on May 7, 2026, at 5:00 PM CT. All applications must be submitted via the TDA-GO online portal and must be complete, including budget details, a project narrative, administrative forms, and proof of eligibility. A pre-application webinar will be held on March 30 and 31, 2026, to assist applicants with the submission process. GO TEXAN Tier 2 upgrades must be completed no later than April 21, 2026. Grant awards may be up to $40,000 and are limited to entities that have not yet received the maximum MEGA grant amount in the last seven years. The funding does not require a cost match, and reimbursement requests may be submitted monthly or quarterly, depending on progress. The final 10% of awarded funds is withheld until all required reporting is complete and accepted by TDA. The performance period for the grant runs from August 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027. Applications will be evaluated based on the clarity and feasibility of proposed activities, expected market impact, use of the GO TEXAN mark, and adherence to budget and reporting requirements. TDA reserves the right to make multiple awards, partial awards, or no awards based on the availability of funds and the quality of applications. Questions about eligibility or submission should be directed to the TDA Grants Office or GO TEXAN Program staff. For further details, applicants are instructed to consult the official Request for Grant Application (RFGA) document.
