Energy Matching Funds Program

Energy Matching Funds supports Wyoming-based energy projects that need matching funds for private or federal financing. The program is intended for research, demonstration, pilot, and commercial deployment projects related to Wyoming energy needs, including areas such as carbon capture, carbon dioxide transportation, coal refinery, hydrogen, biomass, biochar, hydropower, lithium processing and separation, battery storage, and wind and solar energy. Applicants may be individuals or organizations with Wyoming-based projects. The program uses a two-phase competitive process in which applicants first submit a concept paper and may then be invited to submit a formal proposal. Projects must show at least a 1:1 funding match, and matching funds must be secured before a potential award. The program accepts submissions on a continual basis until funds are exhausted or the appropriation expires. Work performed before an executed funding agreement and notice to proceed is at the applicant's risk and will not be reimbursed.
