Leading by Example Clean Energy Grants for State Entities - Feasibility Studies

Leading by Example Clean Energy Grants for State Entities – Feasibility Studies provides funding for Massachusetts state entities to assess clean energy and decarbonization options for state buildings and operations. Supported studies are intended to produce recommendations or analysis that can lead to projects that reduce or eliminate onsite fossil fuel combustion, reduce energy use or energy costs, and prepare buildings for low-carbon technologies. The program supports feasibility work for technologies and strategies such as renewable thermal systems, innovative solar PV, clean energy resilience, thermal and battery storage, anaerobic digestion, and related approaches tied to state facility decarbonization. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and DOER may make full or partial awards. Eligible applicants are state entities, including executive branch agencies, state institutions of higher education, and quasi-public authorities in Massachusetts. Funding is intended for studies where feasibility funding is unavailable elsewhere or insufficient for new or innovative clean energy analyses, and each study award may not exceed $150,000.
