Arts in Community Grants

The Arts in Community Grants program is administered by South Arts, a regional nonprofit arts organization that serves nine southeastern states and is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts along with other public and private funders. Applicants must prepare and upload a complete application that includes organizational information, a project synopsis, detailed narrative responses addressing project goals, audience engagement, feasibility, outcomes, artistic excellence, and organizational capacity, as well as required supporting documents such as proof of eligibility, artist agreements, work samples, and optional supplemental materials. Applications are evaluated based on artistic excellence and artistic merit, including criteria such as project relevance, community impact, feasibility, audience engagement, and contribution to the regional arts ecosystem. The timeline for the current cycle begins with applications opening on July 15, 2026, followed by a submission deadline of September 1, 2026. Applicants are notified of funding decisions by November 24, 2026, and funded projects must take place between January 1, 2027 and December 31, 2027. The program appears to operate on an annual cycle.
