Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Training Grant 2025

The FY2025 Primary Care Residency Expansion Grant Program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Health, aims to address the shortage of primary care physicians by funding new residency positions in Minnesota. It supports the establishment of new primary care residency programs or additional slots in existing ones for fields including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, geriatrics, and general surgery. The program prioritizes underserved and rural communities, aiming to increase healthcare access and promote health equity. The total funding available for FY2025 is $1,900,000. Grants for planning projects may reach up to $75,000, while implementation grants for new residency slots offer up to $150,000 in the first year, $100,000 in the second, and $50,000 in the third. Applicants are encouraged to apply for multiple slots, though awards may be limited due to the program's competitive nature. Eligible applicants must be located in Minnesota, propose to train residents within the state, and demonstrate accreditation or plans to obtain accreditation from a recognized body such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Applicants must maintain current residency numbers and document expansions supported by the grant. Priority is given to programs incorporating rotations in underserved or rural communities and curricula addressing health inequities. Grant funds can be used for program planning, accreditation, recruiting and training residents, faculty salaries, and necessary training site improvements. However, they cannot be used for administrative costs, lobbying, or residents without permanent U.S. residency or humanitarian status. Reporting and progress updates are required quarterly. Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. Central Time on September 6, 2024. Submissions must include detailed project narratives, budgets, and supporting documents such as audited financial statements and proof of accreditation. The review process is competitive, with a scoring system evaluating organizational capacity, project alignment with goals, and sustainability plans. Notifications of award decisions are expected by late October 2024, with projects starting as early as January 2025.
