Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF 2025)

The U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi announces the 2025 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) competition for alumni of U.S. government-funded and sponsored exchange programs. The program seeks proposals from teams of at least two eligible alumni who have participated in these exchange initiatives. Proposals must align with the goals of fostering stronger ties between Georgia and the West by promoting democracy, stability, and shared values. The Embassy encourages alumni to apply for funding to implement innovative, community-oriented projects that address mutual challenges and enhance alumni leadership. The funding opportunity is open to alumni teams or associations, with a team leader designated for project management. Each proposal must directly address at least one of the Embassy's thematic priorities, including exposure to American culture and shared values, strengthening economic prosperity, fostering entrepreneurship, promoting democratic values, community inclusion, tolerance-building, skills development for youth, women, and people with disabilities, cultural preservation, and support for independent media and press freedom. Projects may also focus on de-occupation, reconciliation, and empowering diverse or marginalized communities. All activities must take place outside the United States and its territories. Applicants can request awards ranging from $5,000 to $35,000 for projects with a performance period of up to 12 months, starting in September 2025. Proposals must include a detailed narrative outlining the project’s goals, objectives, methods, timeline, and anticipated impact. A robust monitoring and evaluation plan is required to demonstrate how outcomes will address project goals and benefit the target community. A clear budget justification narrative must accompany the proposal, adhering to AEIF’s guidelines. Costs must be itemized and reasonable, excluding ineligible expenses such as airfare to/from the United States, staff salaries, construction, and social services. Eligible proposals must be submitted by January 31, 2025, 18:00 via email to TbilisiGrants@state.gov with the subject line AEIF 2025. Applications must include mandatory forms such as the AEIF proposal form, AEIF budget form, and SF-424 series forms. Additional documentation, including CVs of key personnel, letters of support, and a detailed communication and outreach strategy, is required. All materials must be submitted in English and U.S. dollars. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The Embassy’s evaluation process will assess proposals based on their relevance to U.S. government priorities, alumni involvement, local partnerships, feasibility of implementation, and impact measurement. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, demonstrating community support, and clear communication plans to share project results. Projects must clearly contribute to Georgia's democratic development and integration with Western institutions while fostering collaboration among alumni networks. Final funding decisions will depend on proposal quality and the availability of funds. Successful applicants will be notified and awarded grants administered by a Grants Officer. Project implementation and expenses may only begin upon the award's official start date. Regular program and financial reporting will be required to track progress and outcomes.
