The Equinox Foundation Grant Program, administered in partnership with Innovia Foundation, is an annual funding initiative focused on supporting community-driven solutions that enhance the wellbeing of residents in Bonner and Boundary counties of North Idaho. Founded on the core values of wisdom, integrity, and environmental stewardship, the Equinox Foundation promotes sustainable regional development and strives to protect natural assets while advancing opportunities for youth and community enrichment.
Eligible applicants include tax-exempt public charities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, federally recognized tribes, and public entities such as local government units described in Section 170(c)(1). Organizations that do not fall under these categories may still be eligible if they are delivering charitable programs. All applicants must demonstrate a charitable purpose and be actively serving populations within Bonner or Boundary Counties, Idaho. Additionally, they must comply with non-discrimination policies and have no delinquent grant reports from prior Innovia Foundation or Equinox Foundation programs.
Grants typically range from $5,000 to $30,000 and are awarded for a one-year term. Funding may be used for a broad array of purposes including seed funding for startups, program expansion, capital and equipment needs, general operating support, and initiatives aimed at increasing access to services for underserved groups. The foundation encourages collaborative efforts among organizations to amplify impact. However, the program does not support individuals, endowments, debt retirement, event underwriting, staff conferences, disease-specific programs, or direct lobbying expenditures.
Applications for the 2025 cycle were accepted from February 18 through April 11, with awards to be announced in July. The grant term runs from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026. Based on the annual cadence and the stated application period, the next expected cycle will open in February 2026. Organizations interested in applying in future rounds are advised to monitor communications from Innovia Foundation starting early 2026.
