Grant Description

The Leading by Example Restoration Grant Program for Solar PV and Decarbonized Systems provides Department of Energy Resources funding for eligible state entities to repair or replace existing Commonwealth-owned solar photovoltaic systems and existing decarbonized electric systems at state facilities. The program is intended to restore active solar capacity, avoid reliance on backup fossil fuel systems, and support Executive Order 594 goals for onsite renewable energy and emissions reduction in state government operations. Funding is available on a rolling basis until exhausted, and DOER may award some or all of the requested amount. Projects must involve Commonwealth-owned systems or equipment, and applications require vendor quotes and compliance with eligible procurement methods.

Funded work must repair or replace Commonwealth-owned solar PV systems or existing decarbonized electric systems at state facilities. Eligible work includes repair or replace components of existing state-owned solar installations; repair or replacement of existing air-source heat pumps, solar thermal systems, geothermal systems.
