The Special Projects Grant is an initiative of the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, designed to provide short-term financial support for creative projects in Monroe County, Florida. This program is tailored specifically for arts organizations and individual artists whose initiatives do not align with existing grant categories, offering a unique funding pathway for unconventional or innovative artistic efforts.
Applicants may request up to $2,000 in funding, with the possibility of higher awards depending on the availability of funds at the time of application. Grants are awarded on a semi-annual basis, with application deadlines on June 30 and November 30 each year. Funded projects must be completed within one year of the award, and all funds are provided on a reimbursement basis following submission of a final program report.
Grantees are required to document their project with photographs and written materials as part of the final report. All promotional materials for funded projects must prominently display the Florida Keys Council of the Arts logo and include specific acknowledgment of support from the Council, the State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, the National Endowment for the Arts, and private donors.
Each funded project may be visited by a representative from the Councilโs board or staff, and the Council offers application guidance upon request. The program is limited to one award per applicant every three years. This structure ensures broader access to funding while maintaining support for original and impactful work across the Monroe County arts community.
One grant per three years; include credit language and logos on all publicity; project must finish within a year.
