Senior Citizens Services Grants - Wellness
This funding opportunity provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and government agencies for projects that improve housing, wellness, and support services for senior citizens aged 55 and older in Pinellas County, Florida.
The Wellness Grant is part of the Senior Citizens Services (SCS) Grants administered by the Pinellas Community Foundation (PCF). Originating from a fund established in 2019 by the former nonprofit organization Senior Citizens Services, Inc., this grant program is specifically designed to support the health and wellbeing of older adults in Pinellas County, Florida. The assets from the now-defunct SCS organization are directed toward expanding and enhancing direct service programs that benefit residents aged 55 and older. For the 2026–2027 cycle, the Wellness Grant offers up to $20,000 in funding to eligible nonprofit organizations and government entities. The primary objective is to fund initiatives that directly improve the wellness of senior citizens through services, education, and support. Acceptable use of funds includes but is not limited to durable medical equipment, mental health counseling, nutrition programs, adult daycare, caregiver support and respite, and other wellness-related services and activities. Projects must focus entirely on the 55+ population within Pinellas County, and all grant funds must be expended within this geographic area. To apply, organizations must be designated 501(c)(3) entities or government agencies with at least one year of service provision at the time of application. The application process is entirely online and includes a Letter of Intent (LOI) phase. For the Wellness Grant, the LOI window opens on April 14, 2026, and closes at noon on April 28, 2026. Full applications must be submitted through the PCF portal, and submission is mandatory before the deadline to avoid being marked as abandoned. The review process is competitive, focusing on the alignment of the proposed project with community needs and the applicant’s capacity to execute the project. Successful applicants will be notified of awards by June 19, 2026, with the project performance period beginning July 1, 2026, and concluding on June 30, 2027. Reporting requirements include both a six-month and a twelve-month impact report, which are critical for continued eligibility in future grant cycles. Organizations that fail to submit these reports may be disqualified from future funding opportunities. The Wellness Grant does not require a matching contribution, but it does require that recipients publicly acknowledge the support of Senior Citizens Services. This includes placing the SCS logo on their websites and collateral, as well as offering facility tours to board members upon request. The grant is intended to be awarded on an annual basis, with the next application cycle anticipated in Spring 2027. Updated calendars and cycle information are released in December prior to the start of each new grant year. For further information, applicants may contact the PCF via the general inquiries email or phone number listed on their website. Office hours are also available for scheduling, allowing organizations to ask questions and ensure alignment with the grant’s purpose and expectations.
