Changemaker Grants Program
This program provides micro-grants to empower young individuals aged 6 to 24 to lead their own community projects that address social, environmental, and humanitarian challenges.
A Million Acts of Love is an initiative dedicated to empowering young people to become leaders and changemakers in their communities and beyond. With a core belief that youth possess the creativity, empathy, and vision to drive meaningful transformation, the program supports young individuals by providing critical financial resources. Named projects like those led by Lexi and Felix exemplify the organization’s commitment to nurturing leadership from a young age. The overarching goal is to create stronger communities, reduce suffering, and foster love by enabling youth-led initiatives that address social, environmental, and humanitarian challenges. The Changemaker Grants program provides micro-grants ranging from $100 to $1,000 for youth-led projects. These grants are intended to support a wide spectrum of initiatives—from local community actions to global outreach efforts. All funded projects must demonstrate a clear purpose, a solid implementation plan, and a thoughtful use of funds. Importantly, successful applicants are expected to lead the project themselves, rather than act as a front for adult-driven initiatives. The program encourages originality and gives preference to first-time projects and new ideas with the potential for impact, replication, or growth. Eligibility is divided into three distinct age categories: Child Changemakers (ages 6–12), Youth Changemakers (ages 13–18), and Young Adult Changemakers (ages 19–24). Each stream has unique expectations regarding autonomy and planning. While children are expected to have adult support, they must originate the idea and articulate the project's vision. Youth are expected to lead independently with optional adult guidance, while young adults are assessed with the highest expectations for planning rigor and project clarity. All applicants must demonstrate a genuine need for funding, particularly where access to other resources is limited. The application process is accessible and youth-centered. Interested applicants are invited to share their project ideas directly through an online form hosted on the A Million Acts of Love website. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed during two primary intakes each year: the Winter Intake on December 16 and the Spring Intake on May 15. However, early submissions may be fast-tracked through sponsorship opportunities, such as partnerships with local businesses or community organizations. Youth participants in the A Million Acts of Love Volunteer Program, which is part of Canada’s National Youth Service Network, receive priority consideration. Those who complete 120 volunteer hours are given elevated access to grant opportunities, recognizing their commitment to service and encouraging the transformation of volunteer experience into direct community action. The program is designed to cultivate leadership, deepen civic responsibility, and reward initiative with actionable support. Through these grants, A Million Acts of Love fosters a new generation of compassionate leaders who are empowered to address real-world issues. The organization’s support structure, inclusive eligibility criteria, and responsive application process reflect a deep investment in youth potential and a belief in the power of love-driven community change. Applications are continuously welcomed, making the program both flexible and broadly accessible.
