The California Employment Development Department (EDD), on behalf of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA), has announced the availability of up to $1 million in funding for the Farmworkers Advancement Program (FAP) Technical Assistance (TA) and Developmental Evaluation (DE) for Program Year 2024-25. This grant, funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Governor’s Discretionary Fund, aims to support organizations that provide technical assistance to FAP awardees. The program's goal is to develop and refine projects that help farmworkers advance their skills within the agricultural sector or transition into other fields, with an emphasis on wrap-around support, upskilling, and fostering continuous learning and improvement in underserved communities.
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based organizations such as community colleges, adult education providers, county social service agencies, community-based organizations (CBOs), labor organizations, and workforce intermediaries. Applicants do not need to be based in California but must demonstrate the capacity to deliver technical assistance across the state. Individuals are not eligible to apply.
An informational webinar will be held on November 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. PT, and attendees must register by 9 a.m. PT on the day of the webinar. The EDD encourages applicants to submit a Notice of Intent to apply by November 26, 2024, at noon PT via email. The final proposal submission deadline is December 9, 2024, at 3 p.m. PT.
