Community Safety Grant
This grant provides funding for community organizations to implement projects that improve safety, emotional well-being, and disaster preparedness in their neighborhoods.
The BGE Community Safety Grant is a funding initiative developed by Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), part of the Exelon Company, to promote safety, resilience, and vibrancy in the communities it serves. BGE has embedded safety as a core value across its corporate culture and community involvement, reflecting its long-standing commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of its employees, customers, and the broader public. This grant program serves as one of BGEโs targeted strategies to foster partnerships that enhance emergency preparedness, emotional well-being, and public safety infrastructure at the community level. The program supports projects that directly contribute to creating safer and more resilient neighborhoods. Funded initiatives must focus on enhancing community disaster preparedness, improving emotional well-being through safe communal environments, or fostering overall community vibrancy. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong alignment with these core themes and a clear strategy for achieving tangible safety outcomes. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with projects located within the BGE service territory. Funding requests may range from $2,500 to $10,000. All funded projects must be completed no later than June 2026. BGE prioritizes projects that show collaboration with emergency response entities and that address urgent community needs in a proactive and integrated way. Requests for basic operating expenses or capital expenditures will not be considered. Each application must include a detailed project budget outlining how the funds will be used. Applications for the 2025 cycle opened prior to March 25, 2025, and must be submitted by May 16, 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted. All applicants will receive notification regarding the outcome of their application by July 2025. Additionally, recipients of the 2025 grant cycle will not be eligible for another Community Safety Grant within the same year. More information, including a list of eligible service zip codes and the online application portal, can be accessed through the BGE Charitable Contributions webpage. Applicants with questions are encouraged to contact the District 3 office for further assistance and referral to the appropriate BGE representative.
