Mini-Grant Program
This program provides up to $1,000 to K-12 educators in Illinois for innovative technology projects that enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
The Mini-Grants program, administered by the Learning Technology Center (LTC) of Illinois, provides funding for educators across Illinois to implement innovative, small-scale projects that integrate educational technology into classroom instruction. The program’s primary aim is to foster creativity in teaching and improve student learning experiences by supporting impactful ideas that can be replicated in other districts across the state. Each Mini-Grant offers up to $1,000 per awarded project, with at least four total awards available. Funding is made possible through proceeds from the LTC Golf Outing, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to promoting technology-driven educational practices. The grant supports initiatives that use technology to enhance instruction, expand access to digital learning, or build staff capacity through professional learning focused on educational technology. Applicants must be employees of public, private, or parochial PK–12 schools, districts, or Regional Offices of Education (ROEs) or Intermediate Service Centers (ISCs) within Illinois. Although vendors are not eligible to receive funding directly, they may nominate qualifying educators or districts. Each applicant may submit multiple project proposals, but only one grant will be awarded per individual. Eligible uses of funds include innovative applications of technology in the classroom, digital learning improvements, and professional development activities. However, general-purpose device purchases (like laptops or iPads), software subscriptions without sustainability plans, small-scale projects with limited student reach, or items lacking measurable impact are not eligible. The application window for the 2025 awards opens August 1, 2025, and closes on September 30, 2025. Applications must be submitted through the LTC Mini Grant nomination form, and incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. A designated LTC review committee evaluates each proposal based on its impact, alignment with program goals, and feasibility. Award recipients will be notified in October 2025, and grants will be formally presented at the Illinois Education and Technology Conference (IETC) in November. Funds are distributed on a reimbursement basis; grantees must purchase approved items, submit proof of purchase, and receive reimbursement. All awarded funds must be claimed by June 1, 2026. In exchange for funding, recipients must present their projects at a future LTC event or provide a digital summary, such as a blog post or webinar.
