LDOA Louisiana Project Grants
This program provides funding for arts-based projects that enhance community engagement and access to the arts across Louisiana, targeting nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions.
The Louisiana Project Grants program is administered by the Louisiana Division of the Arts, a state agency charged with promoting artistic creativity and cultural enrichment across Louisiana. The Division operates under statutory authority to support the arts statewide and partners with nine Regional Arts Councils to distribute funding. These councils manage application support, review processes, and grant monitoring within their respective geographic regions, ensuring localized administration and responsiveness to community needs. The purpose of the Louisiana Project Grants program is to fund arts-based projects that benefit communities throughout the state. The program emphasizes the role of the arts in addressing local challenges, enhancing public access, and showcasing regional creativity and identity. Eligible projects are expected to align with at least one of the program’s core goals, which include increasing access to the arts, highlighting local artistic expression, and addressing community needs through creative approaches. The program is structured to support a wide range of artistic disciplines, including culinary arts, dance, design, folklife, literature, media, music, theater, and visual arts. Funding is distributed through the Regional Arts Councils, each of which establishes minimum and maximum request amounts. Across regions, applicants may request funding generally ranging from 2,500 to 7,500 dollars depending on the administering council. Funds must be used for project-based activities that demonstrate artistic merit, community engagement, and relevance. Allowable uses include project creation, presentation, and public programming, while prohibited uses include capital improvements, equipment purchases, fundraising activities, academic coursework, and non-arts programming. Projects must occur within the designated grant period and geographic region and must be accessible to the public. Eligibility is broad but specific to organizational entities. Applicants must be based in Louisiana and apply within the region where they are domiciled. Eligible entities include nonprofit organizations registered with the Louisiana Secretary of State or holding a federal 501(c)(3) designation, government agencies at the local, parish, or state level, public and private schools, and colleges or universities proposing projects for public participation. Additional requirements include maintaining good standing with state authorities, possessing a Unique Entity Identifier, and registering as a vendor in the state system. Certain entities are excluded, such as individual artists, organizations not in compliance with prior grants, and those receiving duplicative legislative funding. Applications must be submitted through the Submittable platform by the stated deadline. The submission process requires applicants to create an account, complete an online application, and provide supporting documentation. Regional Arts Councils offer workshops and technical assistance, and applicants are encouraged to consult with Community Development Coordinators prior to submission. The application is evaluated through a panel review process based on artistic merit, community impact, project planning, and administrative capacity. Applicants may attend panel discussions and request feedback after review. The application deadline for the current cycle is June 12, 2026, with the grant period running from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. Awards are distributed in two installments, with 75 percent provided upon execution of the grant agreement and the remaining 25 percent released after submission and approval of a final report documenting project completion and expenditures. The program operates on a recurring annual cycle, with each region managing its own timeline for workshops and review activities. Contact information for each Regional Arts Council is provided, including phone numbers and emails for executive directors and community development coordinators, allowing applicants to seek guidance throughout the process.
