It also focuses on enhancing governance for HIS platforms such as the National Data Repository, Electronic Medical Records, and the Laboratory Information Management System. These systems are vital to ensure accurate data reporting and decision-making within the health sector. The NOFO further encourages innovative approaches, including the use of digital health tools, automated data capture, and advanced analytics to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public health management systems.
The award is structured as a cooperative agreement, reflecting CDC’s intent to collaborate closely with implementing organizations. Approximately two awards are expected, with an anticipated total program funding of around $15,000,000 for the first fiscal year, contingent upon the availability of funds. Although the official forecast lists an award ceiling of $0, CDC clarifies that this represents a placeholder for budgetary planning purposes. Actual funding allocations will be announced upon release of the official Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). No cost-sharing or matching funds are required. Eligible applicants include a wide range of entities, such as state and local governments, special district governments, public housing authorities, public and private higher education institutions, school districts, Native American tribal governments and organizations, nonprofit and for-profit entities, and small businesses.
