Unified Government Hollywood Casino Fund Grant

The Unified Government Hollywood Casino Fund, administered by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, supports initiatives aligned with Healthy Communities Wyandotte’s mission to foster a healthier lifestyle for residents of Wyandotte County, Kansas. The fund prioritizes culturally relevant programs that promote healthy eating and physical activity through community engagement and the effective use of the county's environmental infrastructure. The fund aims to catalyze sustainable improvements in community health outcomes by targeting knowledge-based interventions and structural enhancements. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Programs must clearly demonstrate that the majority of beneficiaries are residents of Wyandotte County. Grantees will be required to report participant zip code data as part of the grant’s performance monitoring obligations. While there are no explicit ceilings or minimum grant sizes, the 2024 award amounts ranged from $500 to $24,000, with an average grant size of $6,000. Requested funds must be used within a one-year period, with mandatory interim and final reports due in March and July 2026, respectively. General operating support may only be requested if it directly supports a significant expansion of services. The fund emphasizes strategic alignment with broader community objectives, including the Wyandotte County Comprehensive Plan and Healthy Communities Wyandotte’s guiding vision. An optional informational webinar was held on March 4, 2025. The application window opened on March 1, 2025, and closed on April 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Central Time. The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation conducts an initial eligibility review. The Board of Commissioners for Wyandotte County serves as the official Selection Committee. Commissioners, along with the Mayor, review current applications and past reports before allocating funding shares, subject to final approval by majority vote at a Commission meeting. Awards and declines are communicated to applicants in July. The grant is non-recurring and not currently expected to reopen in future cycles.
