Arts Access Project Grant

The Arts Access Project Grant is administered by the Wyoming Arts Council, a state agency that supports the arts through a combination of state and federal funding, including partnerships with the National Endowment for the Arts. As a public funding entity, the Council emphasizes compliance with federal and state regulations, accessibility, and public benefit. This specific grant program is designed to expand participation in the arts by supporting projects that reach underserved populations and communities across Wyoming. The primary purpose of the Arts Access Project Grant is to increase access to the arts for communities that historically face barriers to participation. These populations may include individuals with disabilities, older adults, veterans, economically disadvantaged individuals, rural communities, individuals with limited English proficiency, and practitioners of folk and traditional arts. The grant encourages comprehensive and collaborative community engagement strategies that meaningfully connect these groups with arts experiences. Projects must be designed to improve access rather than simply present arts programming without a clear outreach or inclusion component. Funding through this program is modest, with organizations eligible to receive up to 1000 dollars per project. Funds are distributed based on a competitive review process in which applications are evaluated by a panel of arts professionals using a fund or no fund scoring model. The grant does not require a cash match, although in kind contributions must be documented in the final report. Funding is limited and will be awarded until available funds are expended, making early and well prepared applications important. Eligibility for the Arts Access Project Grant is limited to organizations. Individual artists are not eligible to apply. Organizations may submit up to two applications per fiscal year, provided they are for different projects or events. If an organization has one or more applications denied, it must wait until the following fiscal year to reapply. Additionally, organizations that did not receive a Community Support Grant may be eligible to receive multiple Arts Council grants across different programs, subject to each program’s criteria. The application process requires organizations to submit proposals at least six weeks prior to the project start date. Applicants must select the appropriate application cycle based on when their project will begin. Required materials include completion of the application form through the Foundant grant management system and adherence to the Wyoming Arts Council Grant Guidelines. Applicants are expected to review narrative questions and evaluation criteria in advance and ensure compliance with all funding requirements, including federal civil rights assurances and accessibility standards. Beginning in May 2026, the grant operates on a recurring three cycle annual schedule. Round one runs from May 1 to June 1 for projects beginning July through September. Round two runs from August 1 to September 1 for projects beginning October through February. Round three runs from January 1 to February 1 for projects beginning March through June. Award notifications are issued on a rolling basis following review. Final reports are due sixty days after the project end date listed in the application. This recurring structure allows organizations to plan projects throughout the year while ensuring sufficient review and funding preparation time.
