Dairy’s Foundation Grants
This grant provides funding to non-profit organizations for innovative dairy-related events and educational programs that enhance the skills of dairy producers and foster public trust in the dairy industry.
Dairy's Foundation is a private philanthropic organization founded by dairy producers and agribusiness leaders who believe education is essential to sustaining healthy dairy communities and a strong dairy industry. The Foundation supports educational initiatives that strengthen producer professionalism, prepare the next generation of dairy leaders, and build public trust in dairy producers and dairy products. Through a competitive grant-making process, the Foundation seeks innovative and collaborative educational programs that can generate measurable impact throughout the dairy industry. The organization emphasizes sharing successful ideas, resources, experiences, and educational models that can benefit dairy producers and communities nationwide. The Dairy's Foundation grant program provides funding opportunities for nonprofit organizations operating within the United States that hold active IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(5) tax-exempt status. Eligible organizations may apply for grants of up to $10,000 to support educational programs and initiatives aligned with the Foundation's mission. The Foundation specifically supports programs that engage dairy producers in lifelong learning, leadership development, producer professionalism, and public engagement activities that foster confidence and trust in dairy farming and dairy products. Projects are expected to demonstrate educational value, measurable outcomes, and broad industry relevance. The Foundation focuses its support in two major areas. The first is building producer professionalism by engaging dairy producers and future dairy leaders in education, leadership development, and professional advancement opportunities. The second is maintaining public trust through outreach and educational efforts that connect the dairy community with the public and increase understanding of dairy production and the dairy industry's role in society. Competitive proposals are evaluated on criteria including industry leadership, leverage of existing resources, shareability of successful ideas, measurable impact, and commitment to partnership and collaboration. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how their proposed project can serve as a catalyst for broader educational advancement within the dairy industry. Certain activities and organizations are specifically excluded from eligibility for funding. Dairy's Foundation does not fund requests from individuals or scholarships for individuals, political or social organizations, endowments, artistic or religious programs, loans or startup expenses for private businesses, building projects, or dairy promotion and nutrition programs that are directly the responsibility of state or national dairy check-off organizations. The Foundation notes that while collaboration with check-off organizations is welcomed, grants are not intended to duplicate or compete with those organizations' responsibilities. In addition, the Foundation does not permit indirect costs within project budgets, and proposals containing indirect cost allocations will not be considered for funding. Applications are accepted through two recurring annual grant cycles. Spring applications submitted between January and May are due by June 1, and applicants are notified of decisions by August 1. Fall applications submitted between July and November are due by December 1, with decisions communicated by February 1. Applicants must prepare a complete submission package that includes a cover page, a detailed grant proposal, and a copy of the organization's IRS determination letter confirming 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(5) status. The proposal must explain the organization's background and qualifications, the problem or opportunity being addressed, the planned activities and implementation strategy, the expected outcomes and measurable impact, the timeline for completion, and a complete project budget including any leveraged or matching resources from other organizations. The Foundation requests that completed applications preferably remain under ten pages and use at least 12-point Arial font. Applications must be submitted electronically by email with the subject line "Grant Application" to info@dairyfoundation.org. Following award decisions, funded organizations are required to provide periodic progress updates throughout the project period and submit a final evaluation and impact statement after project completion. These reporting requirements are intended to support the Foundation's mission of sharing educational solutions and demonstrating the long-term impact of funded initiatives on dairy communities and the broader industry. The Foundation also notes that while all applicants will receive a response, funding decisions may depend on available resources and overall competitiveness within a given grant cycle.
