Grant Description

The Collaborative Research Matching Grant Program provides matching grants for capital research and development projects in Massachusetts. It supports collaborative partnerships that advance new technology-based innovations toward the marketplace, with emphasis on projects that can produce near-term economic recovery, economic growth, competitiveness, and job creation in the Commonwealth. The program encourages applications that bring together university-based research centers, higher education partners, companies, nonprofit organizations, and other research and innovation assets. Supported uses include capital expenditures such as equipment, technology research platforms, land acquisition, and facilities-related investments for large-scale R&D activity, while operating costs are excluded. Awards are accepted on a rolling basis through a two-step process beginning with a concept paper, followed by a full application if invited. Funding for awards is subject to available bond funding, and applicants must provide matching funds.
