Leading by Example Grant Program for Solar PV Deployment with Optional Decarbonization Funding

The Leading by Example Grant Program for Solar PV Deployment with Optional Decarbonization Funding supports integrated solar projects at Massachusetts state facilities. The program is intended to help eligible state entities expand onsite solar photovoltaics while also advancing decarbonization, energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and related resilience benefits in support of the Commonwealth’s clean energy and emissions-reduction goals. Funded projects can include new solar PV deployment, battery energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and other decarbonization activities that reduce onsite fossil fuel emissions. The notice describes an integrated-solar approach in which solar canopy projects must include EV charging infrastructure, and projects above a certain size threshold must include battery energy storage. Awards are made on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted, and applicants may receive all or only part of the amount requested.
