Grant Description

The Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerator Program supports Massachusetts-based manufacturers with fewer than 500 employees as they modernize operations, adopt technology, and improve business capabilities. The program combines accelerator participation, an in-depth third-party assessment, and grant funding for capital purchases that help manufacturers adapt to changing customer needs and the manufacturing landscape. Supported activities include capital equipment and capitalized software purchases justified by the required third-party assessment, along with cohort-based learning and connections to experts and resources. The program is designed to help manufacturers strengthen areas such as digital transformation, AI, robotics and automation, quality assurance and quality control, and upskilling of the current workforce. Funding is restricted to capital expenditures, and grant funds are not paid directly to manufacturers. Instead, MassTech contracts with a nonprofit partner that receives funds, invoices MassTech, and reimburses the manufacturer. Equipment funded through the program must remain in Massachusetts for at least five years after installation, and prior MMAP grant recipients are not eligible to apply.
