Eligibility for the grant is limited to individual artists who are at least 18 years old and are current residents of Broward County, with the expectation that they will maintain their primary residence in the county throughout the grant period. Applicants must demonstrate professional status as established artists with a minimum of three years of experience in their field, supported by resumes and work samples. Additionally, applicants must maintain a studio within Broward County and participate in a required studio visit as part of the evaluation process. Applicants must also be in good standing with the Cultural Division, meaning they have no outstanding reports or unresolved grant obligations. The application process requires submission through the Cultural Division’s grant portal, where applicants must provide a completed application, work samples, and supporting documentation such as a project budget form and narrative. Applications must be submitted by the stated deadline, and incomplete submissions or missing attachments cannot be corrected after the deadline has passed. The review process includes an eligibility screening by staff followed by evaluation by a citizen review panel, which scores applications based on artistic merit and project clarity and use of funds. Final approval is granted by the Broward Cultural Council and the Board of County Commissioners. The timeline for the grant includes an application opening date of July 13, 2026, and a submission deadline of September 11, 2026. Following the deadline, panel review occurs in October 2026, with approval by the Board of County Commissioners in November 2026. Recommended projects are announced in December 2026, and the project implementation period runs from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. Grant payments are disbursed after agreement execution, and recipients are required to submit a final project report within 30 days of the project’s completion. The program is offered annually, subject to funding availability, and artists may only receive this grant once.
