Grant Description

The Grants for Registered Apprenticeship Opportunities in the Workforce program supports the expansion and diversification of registered apprenticeship programs in Massachusetts. The solicitation includes multiple funding categories for expansion industry apprenticeship, construction and building trades inclusion apprenticeship, innovation grants, pre-apprenticeship training and services, and planning grants. Massachusetts applicants may include MassHire Workforce Boards and Career Centers, industry and business associations, training associations, labor unions, joint labor-management training consortiums, community-based and nonprofit organizations, for-profit entities, employer consortiums, secondary schools, post-secondary colleges and universities, consulting entities, and other consortiums. Applicants may apply for one or more grant categories to expand registered apprenticeship programs, including related instruction, supportive services, pre-apprenticeship training and services, innovation, and planning activities. Eligible work includes classroom, online, or hybrid instruction; Apprentice orientation; Soft skills training; Enrollment, retention, and belonging activities; Licensing and credentialing fees; English for Speakers of Other Languages instruction; Childcare costs; Educational supplies; Staff costs associated with apprentice enrollment; retention; administration; and reporting.; Identify occupations with high vacancies; Review of proposed goals, outcomes and program impact; Expand apprenticeship to underrepresented populations; Employer commitments to sponsor/apprentices; Plan for financial viability beyond grant period; Curriculum and training schedule development; Proposed budget evaluation in MA.
