Climate Leader Communities Decarbonization Accelerator Grant Program

The Climate Leader Communities Decarbonization Accelerator Grant Program provides financial support to certified Massachusetts Climate Leader Communities for municipal clean energy projects that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from municipal operations. Funded projects must align with the applicant's Climate Leader Municipal Decarbonization Roadmap and prioritize reducing onsite fossil fuel combustion, energy use, and energy costs. Supported projects include renewable thermal systems such as heat pumps and solar thermal, on-site solar photovoltaic projects, clean energy resilience projects, energy storage, and other non-fossil fuel projects that advance decarbonization. The program is intended for municipalities that are already certified as Climate Leader Communities, and applicants may receive only one accelerator grant through this notice. Projects must take advantage of applicable incentives and rebates where economically beneficial, and grant funding cannot exceed remaining project costs after other grants, rebates, or incentives are applied. All projects must include a comprehensive training plan for building operations staff, and training costs after the grant contract period are not supported.
