Spark Good Local Grants

The Spark Good Local Grants program is a community-focused initiative funded and administered by Walmart Inc. to support nonprofit organizations, schools, and governmental agencies within the local service areas of its U.S. stores, Sam’s Clubs, and distribution centers. The program is designed to build stronger relationships between Walmart facilities and their communities by funding projects that meet specific local needs and reflect Walmart’s values and community priorities. The grant program operates nationwide and provides an opportunity for direct investment into diverse community-based initiatives. Grants range from $250 to $5,000 per award and are offered on a quarterly basis. The 2025 application cycles are: March 10–April 15, May 1–July 15, August 1–October 15, and November 3–December 31. Applicants must serve the same geographic area as the facility from which they are requesting funding. Once an organization is funded by a facility, it may not reapply to the same location within the same fiscal year. Applications are reviewed and recommended by local facility managers, who consider mission alignment, trustworthiness, and program effectiveness when making funding decisions. Final approvals are issued before the start of the next quarterly cycle, and all determinations are final. To be eligible, applicants must have a Spark Good account at Walmart.com/nonprofits and be verified through Deed, Walmart’s third-party verification partner. Eligible entities include 501(c)(3) public charities, U.S. government agencies and political subdivisions, K–12 schools and colleges, and community-serving faith-based organizations such as food pantries or soup kitchens. The program excludes non-charitable organizations such as 501(c)(4), (c)(6), and (c)(19) entities, including homeowner associations and civic leagues. Grant recipients must confirm compliance with Spark Good’s program and logo usage guidelines. Funds are disbursed electronically via JPMorgan Chase, and recipients must provide accurate banking information within 21 days of grant recommendation to secure payment. Each organization is limited to 25 concurrent applications, including pending or approved ones, across all Walmart locations. Funding recommendations are made by facility managers who are encouraged to prioritize organizations with a strong local presence and a clear, measurable community impact. Walmart reserves the right to adjust award amounts or deny funding at its discretion. The program emphasizes transparency, local relevance, and mutual trust in its community investment decisions. Grant applicants should be aware that submission does not guarantee funding. All applications are subject to Walmart’s review of the applicant’s reputation, adherence to community values, and legal compliance. Discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender identity, and other protected categories disqualifies applicants from participation.
