USA Lacrosse Grant Program
This program provides funding and resources to organizations that create structured lacrosse opportunities for youth, particularly those facing barriers to participation, to promote access and inclusivity in the sport.
The USA Lacrosse Grant Program is a national initiative administered by USA Lacrosse, the governing body for men’s and women’s lacrosse in the United States. The organization is dedicated to expanding access to the sport, improving the quality of programming, and fostering inclusive participation among youth. Through this grant program, USA Lacrosse seeks to support organizations that deliver structured lacrosse opportunities to young people, particularly those who may face barriers to participation due to financial, geographic, or social constraints. The primary purpose of the grant program is to increase access to lacrosse programming and resources for youth ages 6 to 19, with a strong emphasis on serving participants aged 14 and under. Funding is distributed in multiple forms, including equipment such as helmets and sticks, financial assistance for adaptive and diversity-focused initiatives, physical education program support, and regional academy opportunities for coaches and officials. These offerings are designed to strengthen organizational capacity, improve program quality, and broaden participation in the sport. Eligible applicants must be organizations based in the United States that provide structured and consistent lacrosse programming to large groups of youth. Programs must run for a minimum of six weeks and be led by experienced and committed leadership. Organizations must also demonstrate alignment with USA Lacrosse’s mission and policies, as well as articulate a clear need for support and a plan for utilizing grant resources effectively. While nonprofit status, particularly 501(c)(3), is preferred, it is not strictly required, and organizations serving diverse communities or supporting both men’s and women’s lacrosse are given priority consideration. The application process is conducted through an online grant portal and requires applicants to create a unique login separate from USA Lacrosse membership credentials. Applicants must provide organizational information such as an Employer Identification Number (EIN), demographic data, and optionally a USA Lacrosse membership number. The application is expected to take approximately 30 minutes to complete and must be submitted within the designated application window. Only fully completed applications are considered. Following submission, applications undergo a review period conducted by USA Lacrosse. The process includes two phases of notification and acceptance. Selected applicants receive communication via email and must complete acceptance forms, contracts, and fulfillment documentation through the portal by strict deadlines. These forms are necessary to proceed to the fulfillment stage, during which grant resources are distributed. After receiving grant support, recipients are required to complete a Post-Grant Reflection survey. This reporting component captures insights about program outcomes and the effectiveness of the grant, helping USA Lacrosse evaluate impact and guide future funding decisions. The overall timeline spans from application opening in early summer through fulfillment in the fall, with reporting due the following spring. USA Lacrosse reserves the right to adjust timelines based on operational considerations such as inventory and fulfillment logistics. The program is recurring annually, with a consistent summer application cycle and structured review and award phases.
