Household Hazardous Products (HHP) Lithium-Ion Battery Collection Asset Distribution

The Household Hazardous Products Lithium-Ion Battery Collection Asset Distribution supports Massachusetts municipalities in improving safe household hazardous waste management by establishing or expanding local mixed-battery collection, including lithium-ion batteries. The program responds to concerns about improper lithium-ion battery disposal and aims to help residents access safe drop-off options. MassDEP, through a vendor, will provide collection materials and training to participating municipalities at no cost. Eligible projects must provide residents with an accessible lithium-ion battery drop-off location and train employees on proper battery collection procedures, and grantees must participate in training on proper collection and storage.
