Nelson County Community Fund Grant
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and government agencies in Nelson County for projects that improve community well-being and address unmet local needs.
The Nelson County Community Fund (NCCF) is a community-based philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting tax-exempt public charities and government agencies that directly benefit Nelson County, Virginia. NCCF’s grantmaking priorities focus on improving quality of life through programs that assist seniors, address medical and dental needs, alleviate hunger, provide childcare and legal services, support individuals with disabilities, and renovate substandard housing. The fund also supports initiatives that foster education and community engagement, especially programs that enrich the lives of Nelson County residents. NCCF offers both seed money grants for innovative new projects and sustaining grants for ongoing services that meet vital community needs. Programs that serve citizens whose needs are not currently met by existing services are especially encouraged. While organizations located outside Nelson County are eligible to apply, their projects must show a direct benefit to the county’s residents. Grants are made without regard to gender, race, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation. Grant applications are accepted twice per year. The current cycle closes on December 31, 2025, with funding decisions announced in February or March. The alternate cycle closes on June 30, with decisions announced in August or September. Applications must include a clearly defined grant usage period, typically lasting up to 12 months. Organizations are permitted to submit multiple applications per cycle, provided they represent distinct projects, and they may apply in consecutive cycles if the projects differ. To apply, applicants must download and complete the Grant Application Procedure, Submission Checklist, and, if applicable, a Grant Financial Report. All materials must be submitted via email to NCCFund@gmail.com. A site visit by the NCCF board is required as part of the review process to assess and discuss the application. Grant recipients are expected to submit a written project report within one year of receiving funds or with a future application, along with a completed Grant Financial Reporting Form. While NCCF does not support endowments, deficit reductions, fundraising events, or appeals from well-established organizations, it remains committed to addressing pressing local needs. Religious programs, individual grants, animal advocacy projects, and efforts typically managed by government agencies are also excluded. By emphasizing community impact and operational integrity, NCCF ensures its resources are used to generate meaningful change for Nelson County residents.
