Community Support Grants

The County Executive Community Support Grants program is administered by Arundel Community Development Services on behalf of Anne Arundel County. Eligibility is limited to nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under section 501c3 and in good standing with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation. Applicants must provide direct services to Anne Arundel County residents, maintain an active board of directors, and demonstrate financial accountability through IRS filings or audited financial statements. Faith-based organizations may apply, but funding cannot be used for religious activities, and any supported programs must be accessible to the broader community regardless of religious affiliation. The application process requires submission through the ACDS Neighborly online portal. Applicants must create an account and complete all required forms and attachments, including organizational documents, financial statements, letters of support, and project descriptions. A training session is typically offered prior to the application deadline to guide applicants through the process. Applications are reviewed first for eligibility and completeness, then evaluated by a panel based on alignment with county priorities, demonstrated need, quality of outcomes, and organizational stability. The evaluation process prioritizes proposals that address underserved populations, promote health and well-being, advance equity and inclusion, and reduce educational opportunity gaps. Additional consideration is given to collaborative projects, though they are not required. Final funding decisions are made by the County Executive after review panel recommendations. Applicants are notified of award decisions in writing, and successful applicants must enter into a formal grant agreement before incurring expenses. The funding cycle typically runs from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. For the referenced cycle, applications opened in early January and closed in late February, with awards announced by July 1. The program is recurring annually, with similar timelines expected in future cycles.
