The United Way of the Bemidji Area is currently accepting applications for its 2025–2026 grant cycle, exclusively supporting nonprofit organizations serving Hubbard County, Minnesota. This grant program is funded through the 2024 “Campaign for the Community” and is designed to address pressing local human service needs across three priority areas: Youth Opportunity, Financial Stability, and Healthy Community. Awards will be distributed as one-time investments, typically ranging from $500 to $5,500 depending on the number of awardees and available funds.
Eligible applicants must be incorporated nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, actively operating and delivering services relevant to their application within Hubbard County. Agencies must meet United Way’s Basic Conditions of Funding, including non-discrimination, sound financial management, volunteer governance, and demonstrated local impact. Applicants must also show that their programs meet a documented need within the community and align with one of United Way’s core funding areas: education, basic needs, or health.
Funding may not be used for capital building projects, athletic events, political activities, prior-year deficits, or for-profit organizations. Agencies must serve Hubbard County residents and, if part of a larger state or national organization, must operate a local chapter or program with a visible presence in the area. Applications are subject to review for alignment, completeness, and compliance with United Way’s standards.
To apply, organizations must submit a completed application packet to grants@unitedwaybemidji.org by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025. Required documents include a 3-page proposal, budget materials, partnership agreement, IRS determination letter, by-laws (if changed), most recent audit or financial statement, Form 990 or explanation of exemption, and proof of Minnesota charities registration. Incomplete applications may be rejected. Agencies are encouraged to explain how their services address the needs of the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population in Hubbard County.
Grantees will be notified of funding decisions by August 31, 2025. Funds will be disbursed on a one-time basis by November 20, 2025. Future funding cycles may include semi-annual or quarterly distributions. Agencies awarded grants agree to adhere to United Way investment terms and must report any changes in program use.
