Eligibility for the program is limited to existing commercial buildings located along designated commercial corridors within North Myrtle Beach. Mixed use buildings may qualify if commercial activity occupies the ground floor and comprises a significant portion of the street facing frontage. The program is targeted toward businesses such as retail establishments, restaurants, professional offices, and arts related spaces. Applicants are limited to one award per fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30, reinforcing equitable distribution of funds across applicants. Applications must be submitted by the published deadline and include sufficient documentation to clearly communicate the proposed improvements. This typically involves photographs, design renderings, material samples, cost estimates, and other supporting materials. All proposed work must receive formal approval before construction begins. Applicants are also responsible for obtaining necessary permits and ensuring that all contractors are properly licensed.
