USACE Raystown Lake Project Conservation Interns

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, is seeking a nonprofit partner to support the management and enhancement of natural resources at the Raystown Lake Project (RLP) through a cooperative agreement. The primary focus of this agreement is to provide conservation training and education opportunities for two Conservation Interns. The selected nonprofit will oversee the interns' activities, which include wildlife management, fisheries management, forest management, and water safety promotion. The project aims to foster hands-on experience for interns in environmental stewardship and public engagement. The purpose of this grant is to support conservation efforts at Raystown Lake while providing training for individuals pursuing careers in fish and wildlife, forestry, or environmental education. The interns will assist with monitoring threatened and endangered species, conducting wildlife habitat enhancements, performing boundary inspections, and managing life jacket loaner stations. Additionally, they will be involved in public outreach through interpretive programs, news releases, public service announcements, and special event organization. This cooperative agreement will be funded through the USACE’s Assistance Programs under 33 USC 2339(a). The total funding available for the program is $24,000, with individual awards ranging from $12,000 to $24,000. No cost-sharing or matching funds are required for participation. The grant will be awarded to one nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status that can demonstrate the capacity to effectively manage the program and support the interns in their conservation and outreach activities. Eligible applicants are limited to nonprofit organizations that hold 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Institutions of higher education and for-profit entities are not eligible. The selected organization must have experience in conservation, environmental education, or resource management to ensure the interns receive proper guidance and training. Applications must be submitted by March 3, 2025, which is 30 days following the release of the solicitation.
