The Solomon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) offers bi-annual competitive grants to nonprofit organizations, government and public entities, educational institutions, and churches located within Mitchell County, Kansas. This grant opportunity is designed to support projects that enhance the quality of life in the local community and is made possible through funding from the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the SVCF Community Impact Fund.
The Dane G. Hansen Foundation partners with regional community foundations throughout Northwest Kansas to provide financial resources aimed at community betterment. Through this collaboration, SVCF receives allocated funding to distribute to eligible local projects and programs. Funding can support a broad range of focus areas, including education, healthcare, social services, conservation and environment, arts and culture, and community beautification. Specifically, grants may fund initiatives that enhance learning environments, improve healthcare access, provide social services and emergency relief, preserve natural resources, promote cultural engagement, and maintain public spaces.
Applicants are encouraged to design projects that emphasize community involvement and volunteerism. However, grant funds may not be used to offset regular budgetary expenses for tax-supported programs or projects, and are not available for endowment or operational costs. This ensures the funding supports new or supplementary efforts rather than existing obligations.
SVCFโs grant process includes two funding cycles annually. The spring cycle opens on December 1 and closes on February 1, while the fall cycle opens on July 1 and closes on August 1. Applications must be submitted by midnight on the final day of each cycle. All applications are reviewed competitively, with awards determined based on alignment with program objectives, the impact on the community, and evidence of volunteer engagement.
Interested applicants should ensure their projects meet the eligibility requirements and adhere to the submission deadlines. For additional information or assistance, applicants can contact Julia at julia@solomonvalleycf.org or by phone at (785) 833-6153. The SVCF office is located at 102 S. Mill St., Suite 5, Beloit, KS 67420.
