Grant Description

The DOER Regional School District Decarbonization Grant Program helps Massachusetts regional school districts replace fossil fuel equipment at existing facilities with efficient electric alternatives. The program is intended for Regional School Districts and supports projects that demonstrate electrification and emissions reductions. It is designed to address funding gaps for small- to medium-heating system and facility equipment electrification projects, and priority may be given to eligible projects in disadvantaged communities. Funding is available through a competitive grant process, with applicants expected to use applicable utility incentives and other available funds where possible to improve project cost-effectiveness and feasibility. Projects must be completed within 12 months of award and no later than January 1, 2028.
