The purpose of this initiative is to advance research that reduces firearm injury and disparities through the development and evaluation of firearm injury primary prevention interventions leveraging community healthcare settings. This funding opportunity solicits applications that focus on primary prevention of firearm injury leveraging community healthcare settings. Applications may propose intervention studies with a rigorous design including, but not limited to, policy implementation studies, natural experiments and other studies with a quasi-experimental design, as well as those meeting the NIH definition of a clinical trial. Aims may focus on efficacy, effectiveness, or hybrid effectiveness/implementation research. Health or behavioral outcomes for this funding opportunity should be appropriate to the aims and should include, but are not limited to, changes in behavior related to firearm injury prevention and firearm safety procedures, and implementation outcomes. Change in knowledge of firearm injury prevention measures may be a secondary outcome (e.g., as a mechanism of action) but should not be the focus of the project. Multi-level, multi-disciplinary interventions and outcomes are encouraged, including individual, interpersonal, organizational, and community levels. Individual level outcomes should be one of the outcome levels included. Rigorous methods that address potential sources of bias that are appropriate to the study design are expected. Intervention studies are expected to include a theory-informed examination of the mechanisms of intervention effects. Projects that are responsive to this funding opportunity include R01 studies of all size, from small, single-site, three-year projects such as to adapt an intervention to the community or to test efficacy of an intervention, to large multi-site trials to test effectiveness and implementation strategies. Applications that meet any of the non-responsiveness criteria will be considered non-responsive and will not be reviewed. Implementation studies should include an evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention in the site or sites. Years requested and project budgets should reflect the scope of the project. A description of plans for community engagement, including clear justification of the planned approach, is required. Projects that focus on populations that experience health disparities are highly encouraged.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) anticipates soliciting applications for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Data Collaborative Equity Analysis Awards. Awards are intended to support state, territory, or county TANF agencies in conducting equity-focused analyses of their TANF and other human services data. Equity-focused analyses may examine the fair, just, and impartial treatment of individuals under the management and practices of the TANF program. For example, analyses may assess disparities or disproportionalities across different social groups with respect to benefit levels, referral to specific programs, or sanctioning rates. During the 30-month project period, award recipients will participate in intensive training and technical assistance provided by an ACF-funded contractor as part of the TANF Data Collaborative 2.0 (see description below). The technical assistance will build the capacity of agencies to execute a multi-year project that will identify relevant equity-focused research questions, and using available data, build data models and visualizations to inform program improvement, particularly as it relates to social equity in TANF, which is defined as the fair and equitable distribution of public services and implementation of public policy.TANF programs aim to address the employment and self-sufficiency needs of TANF recipients and other individuals with low incomes. The existence of federally reported TANF administrative data and TANF agency case management data creates unique opportunities to evaluate equity in multiple stages of the program process, allowing TANF agencies to build evidence on the potential inequities that may exist in their programs for participants. The TANF Data Collaborative Equity Analysis Awards are intended to support participating TANF agencies to:Build data analytic capacity among TANF agency staff through intensive training and technical assistance;Promote social equity analysis using TANF data to support program improvement and inform policy making;Encourage innovative approaches to leveraging one or more existing TANF data sources; andDemonstrate the potential for improved TANF data quality, use, and sharing to benefit agency programming and individual and family outcomes.OPRE funded the TANF Data Collaborative (TDC) as part of the TANF Data Innovation contract between 2017 and 2022, which provided training and technical assistance to directly support the learning of pilot sites while generating lessons and materials for others interested in understanding and working with TANF data. Landowner Support for Forest Resilience is currently funded by four Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) provisions (Public Law No: 117-169. Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites applications for projects to expand, improve, or transform the utility of mammalian cancer and tumor models for translational research. With this NOFO, the NCI intends to encourage submission of projects devoted to demonstrating that mammalian models or their derivatives used for translational research are robust representations of human biology, are appropriate to test questions of clinical importance, and provide reliable information for patients' benefit. These practical goals contrast with the goals of many mechanistic, NCI-supported R01 projects that employ mammals, or develop and use mammalian cancer models, transplantation tumor models, or models derived from mammalian or human tissues or cells for hypothesis-testing, non-clinical research.
