The Office of Minority Health announces the anticipated availability of funds for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 under the authority of 42 U.S.C. 300u-6 (Section 1707 of the Public Health Service Act).This notice solicits applications for projects to demonstrate that community level innovations that reduce barriers related to social determinants of health (SDOH) can increase use of preventive health services and make progress toward Leading Health Indicator (LHI) targets. LHIs are a subset of high priority Healthy People 2030 (HP2030) objectives selected to drive action toward improving health and well-being. SDOH are described in HP2030 as conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.We anticipate the availability of $8,000,000 for up to 14 awards, ranging from $475,000 to $600,000 annually, for a period of performance of up to 48 months. Recipients will be required to report on progress and milestones as part of an annual noncompeting continuation application. Costs of medical services are unallowable under this funding opportunity. Early in the fourth budget period, we anticipate offering a competing continuation opportunity for an additional 12-month budget period (i.e., a fifth budget period) to support selected successful projects in their transition to sustainability. Funding available for the additional budget period is not guaranteed nor expected to be at the same level of previous budget periods. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) Grants and Acquisitions Management Division (GAM) will administratively support this competition. This funding opportunity supports U.S. institutions in training future clinician-scientists through integrated programs that combine medical education with advanced research training, ultimately enhancing public health and biomedical research.

This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) will support development, adaptation, and/or applications of computational tools to aggregate and analyze orthogonal chemical and/or biological data sets related to natural products with the aim of generating novel testable hypotheses regarding their biological activity and role in the context of whole person health research. Projects must leverage and merge multiple compatible or interoperable sources and/or types of data. Use of artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches is encouraged. This NOFO is part of the Consortium Advancing Research on Botanicals and Other Natural Products (CARBON) Program. The purpose of the Promote Mental Health Among the Health Professional Workforce (PMHW) program is to support health care entities, including entities that provide health care services, such as hospitals, community health centers, and rural health clinics, or medical professional associations, to promote wellness, resilience, and mental health of the health care professional workforce using established or enhanced evidence-based or evidence-informed programs to transform organizational cultures.

The U.S. Department of Energys (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Building Technologies Office (BTO) is issuing this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) titled Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL): Resilient and Efficient Codes Implementation (RECI). The current FOA represents the second installment in the RECI initiative, which maintains the same broad format, flexibility, and crosscutting areas of interest, while emphasizing and prioritizing specific gaps, needs, and opportunities to support building energy codes identified as focal points through the first RECI FOA and continued stakeholder engagement. The activities to be funded under the FOA support the BIL, as well as a broader government-wide approach to advance building codes and support their successful implementation. The primary focus centers around updating to more efficient building energy codes that save money for American homes and businesses, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and encourage more resilient buildings. This FOA includes one topic area broadly focused on the cost-effective implementation of updated energy codes.

FDA announces the availability of fiscal year (FY) 2024 funds to support one or more projects to 1) collect antimicrobial use data from diverse animal sectors, including domestic livestock, poultry, companion animals (dogs, cats, and horses), and minor species (e.g., fish, sheep, goats) and 2) contribute to the development of data collection frameworks, including providing data and expertise as resources and a public-private partnership frameworks are established. This grant will support the continued advancement of FDA;apos;s initiatives to support antimicrobial stewardship in veterinary settings. It will also support the National Action Plan objectives to engage the animal health community and relevant stakeholders to advance strategies intended to improve understanding of antimicrobial use and foster antimicrobial stewardship in animal agriculture.

The Outdoor Equity Fund aims to enhance safe, equitable access to outdoor spaces and nature-based learning for Wabanaki, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in Maine, unceded land of the Wabanaki. The fund addresses systemic barriers that BIPOC communities face in accessing outdoor spaces by supporting organizations working on land-based cultural preservation, land-back projects, leadership development, farming and gardening programs, outdoor accessibility, expeditions, learning, and therapeutic programs. It operates with a Community Advisory Committee guiding its efforts and employs a participatory grantmaking process. Selected organizations for the 2023 cohort will receive $30,000 over three years for general operating support, alongside opportunities for peer learning and capacity-building activities.

This grant provides funding for research aimed at understanding the factors that contribute to health disparities in HIV and aging among racial and ethnic minorities, low-income populations, and other underserved groups, focusing on how multiple health conditions affect their overall well-being and quality of life.

The purpose of the Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program is to improve the health outcomes and quality of life for populations at increased risk for the development of radiogenic cancers and/or disease resulting from exposure to radioactive materials through uranium mine industry work or fallout from nuclear arms testing. The United States conducted 227 above-ground and 828 below-ground nuclear weapons tests between July 1945 and November 1962. Many of the above-ground tests released radioactive material into the atmosphere. That material reached the ground as nuclear fallout. The dangers of radiation exposure were unknown at the time. Workers did not receive protection. People who lived near the test sites were not warned of potential dangers or told to evacuate. Workers and residents had radiation exposure from touching fallout on the ground, breathing polluted air, eating polluted foods, and drinking polluted water. People exposed to radiation generated by the nuclear weapons tests are at risk for certain cancers and other serious health problems.

This funding opportunity is designed to support researchers investigating the connections between HIV/AIDS and various health issues related to diabetes, digestive, kidney, and metabolic diseases, particularly focusing on the complications and social factors affecting people living with HIV.

This FOA solicits applications for new Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (BSSR) predoctoral training programs that focus on innovative computational and/or data science analytic approaches and their incorporation into training for the future BSSR health research workforce. The primary goal of this Institutional Research Training Grant is to provide short-term training for medical students to obtain necessary aging research experiences and technical expertise and skills early during their education to encourage them to pursue careers in research. Other health professional students may also benefit from such short-term training and are eligible when research training is a minor part of, or nonexistent in, their doctoral program. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) seeks to foster new multi-disciplinary teams to address how HIV Comorbidities and co-infections within the missions of NIDDK and NIAID interact with viral reservoirs, potentially confounding cure strategies aimed at either sustained viral suppression or elimination from the body. These teams will mechanistically interrogate the impact of inflammation, metabolic perturbations, or other pathophysiological processes associated with these comorbidities or co-infections on reservoir dynamics, and/or the interplay of these conditions and co-infections on HIV reservoir biology in ways that are likely to interact with potential cure strategies.

The purpose of this supplemental funding is to strengthen organizational capacity to respond to the changing health care landscape and increase access to high quality family-centered HIV primary health care services for low income women, infants, children and youth (WICY) with HIV. The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Part D funds outpatient family-centered primary and specialty medical care for low-income women, infants, children, and youth with HIV. Part D funding also may be used to provide support services to people with HIV and their affected family members. The Enhancing HIV Care of Women, Infants, Children and Youth: Building Capacity through Communities of Practice program is a platform for RWHAP Part D recipients to increase the delivery of evidence-based interventions, evidence-informed interventions, and emerging interventions that enhance client outcomes; increase the skill level of the HIV workforce providing care and treatment to women, infants, children, and youth; and involve partner collaboration for dissemination of best practices. During the four-year initiative, which began in fiscal year (FY) 2023, the Communities of Practice are focusing on three areas: ■ Pre-conception counseling, including sexual health (2023–2024) ■ Trauma-informed care (2024–2025) ■ The transition from youth services to adult care (2025–2026)
