Grant Description

The Cranberry Renovation & Enhancement Program provides funding for improvements on Massachusetts cranberry operations through two tracks: full renovation of existing cranberry bogs and enhancement projects that directly support cranberry production. The program is intended to strengthen long-term farm viability by improving productivity, operational efficiency, environmental performance, and core farm infrastructure. Eligible applicants are cranberry operations engaged in commercial production agriculture in Massachusetts, and projects must be on property in active agricultural use that is under the applicant’s ownership or control for at least three consecutive years. Supported work must result in a completed and functional renovation or a production-related enhancement, with an emphasis on water quality protection, efficient resource use, and long-term environmental and economic sustainability. Funding is available up to $125,000 for renovation projects at up to $25,000 per acre and up to $50,000 for enhancement projects at up to 80 percent of total project costs, with a combined maximum request of $175,000. Applicants must provide at least a 20 percent cash match, and projects must be completed and invoiced by June 30, 2027.
