The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC) administers the Fund for Anne Arundel to address the county’s most pressing social needs. Rooted in CFAAC's 2022 Community Needs Assessment, the Fund responds to persistent challenges affecting children and families across Anne Arundel County, Maryland. In 2025, CFAAC distributed more than half a million dollars through this program, marking a record-breaking year for community investment.
The Fund is designed to support nonprofit organizations that serve Anne Arundel County residents. With a focus on health, education, and stability, grants will fund programs targeting physical, mental, and behavioral health of children; mental wellness; homeless prevention; and school or after-school services. Grants range from $25,000 to $50,000 per award. Applicants may choose a one-year grant or apply for a two-year renewable grant of up to $25,000 annually, contingent on performance and reporting from year one.
Applications are evaluated based on several key criteria, including alignment with community needs, strategic and data-informed solutions, organizational track record, credibility, sustainability plans, collaboration potential, and evidence-based impact. The strongest proposals will clearly articulate how funding will be used and provide a compelling case for effectiveness and efficiency.
Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations operating in Anne Arundel County, with tax-exempt status in place for at least two years as of January 1, 2025. They must be in good standing with Maryland’s Department of Assessment and Taxation and comply with Maryland Secretary of State Charitable Organization Registration requirements. Previous CFAAC grant recipients may reapply if they have met reporting requirements for earlier awards.
Applications typically open in early spring and remain open for about five weeks. Following the submission window, the Fund’s committee reviews applications, interviews finalists, and announces awards. The grant performance period generally spans July 1 through June 30 of the following year. Grantees are required to submit mid-year and final reports evaluating outcomes; templates will be provided.
