Grant Description

The Wyoming Foundation, established in 1976 by Dr. James MacCallum, aims to enhance the quality of life in Wyoming County, New York. Since 1977, it has funded a wide range of educational, cultural, and human service initiatives. The foundation’s long-standing commitment to the community continues through its competitive grantmaking process, which supports not-for-profit organizations that address the evolving needs of Wyoming County residents. Recent strategic planning undertaken in 2023 has further focused the foundation’s mission, identifying two core priorities: expanding educational opportunities and increasing access to arts and cultural experiences for both youth and adults. In 2026, the Wyoming Foundation has allocated approximately $40,000 for competitive grantmaking. The maximum grant award available to a single organization is $5,000. Funding is intended for projects that fall within the foundation’s priority areas, although initiatives outside of these may be considered if they meet a demonstrated community need and have a positive impact on the county. The foundation emphasizes projects that are impactful, realistic in their outcomes, and provide a reasonable return on investment. Applicants are advised that their proposals may be shared with the foundation’s clients. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations located in or serving Wyoming County. Only one open competitive grant is permitted per organization at any time. Ineligible uses include funding for endowments, religious purposes, political activity, or reimbursement for projects already completed. Additionally, scholarships, events, festivals, and projects by schools not registered with the New York State Education Department are not eligible for funding. Applications that do not align with these guidelines will not be considered. The application process has been significantly streamlined and must be completed online via the Foundant Grant Lifecycle Manager. Paper, email, or PDF submissions are not accepted. Applicants are required to submit standard information including program name, mission, concise summary, geographic service area, requested amount (up to $5,000), and a project description outlining need, goals, approach, outcomes, timeline, collaborators, and evaluation methods. A detailed budget is also required, along with optional supplemental materials and letters of support. Applications for the 2026 grant cycle open on March 26, 2026, and must be submitted by April 24, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. No extensions or exceptions are allowed. Award notifications will be distributed in early July 2026. Selected grants will be formally announced during the Wyoming Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, scheduled for July 23, 2026 at the Glen Iris Inn in Castile, NY. Grantees are encouraged to attend the celebration. For inquiries, applicants may contact Cara Reynolds at carar@cfgb.org. Additional information and the full application guidelines are available in the official documentation provided by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, which administers the Wyoming Foundation’s grant programs.
