Grant Description

The Community Activity Grant Program is administered by the City of Yucaipa through its General Services/City Clerk Department. The program was established to support the efforts of local nonprofit 501(c) organizations that provide valuable services, programs, and events to residents of Yucaipa. The City Council approved the FY 2026/27 grant cycle and allocated funding levels of 20000 dollars for financial grant requests and 40000 dollars for in-kind or fee waiver requests. The program is reviewed annually as part of the City’s budget process, and funding levels may be adjusted depending on fiscal priorities. The purpose of the program is to provide matching financial support or in-kind assistance to eligible Yucaipa-based nonprofit organizations. Funding may be requested for ongoing programs or services, newly proposed programs or services, and small or large-scale special events that meet established program guidelines. Financial grants are intended to subsidize programming rather than supplant existing funding. In-kind support may include facility use or fee waivers, with the Scherer Community Center identified as the only City facility available to accommodate weekly or monthly in-kind meeting requests. Certain facilities and programming categories are expressly excluded, including the Equestrian Center, Uptown Park facilities, the Yucaipa Performing Arts Center except as noted for the Yucaipa High School Music and Art Department, and specified production equipment and personnel costs. Eligibility is strictly limited to Yucaipa-based nonprofit 501(c) organizations. Applications from organizations that are not established 501(c) entities or that are located outside of Yucaipa are not eligible. Proposed programs or events already provided within the community or taking place outside of Yucaipa are also ineligible. Applicants must complete and submit any required Accountability Reports from prior grant cycles before applying for the FY 2026/27 program. Additionally, grant recipients are required to submit a detailed financial accountability report within one month following completion of the funded project or event in order to remain eligible for future funding cycles. For FY 2026/27, applications for financial assistance opened on April 1, 2026. Financial grant requests are subject to a firm deadline of April 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m., and late applications will not be considered. In contrast, applications for in-kind or fee waiver assistance do not have a fixed deadline and are reviewed on a rolling basis until allocated funds are depleted. Grant funds awarded must be spent during the fiscal year for which they are granted. Once the City Council approves an award, recipients must submit an invoice for the approved amount, after which the City initiates payment in full, typically within approximately 30 to 45 days. The application must be complete and include applicant information, the amount requested, proof of nonprofit eligibility, a clear statement of need, identification of the target population, a program description and scope, outcome measurements, organizational background and experience in the program area, and financial capability documentation including a budget. Completed applications may be emailed to tdavis@yucaipa.gov, mailed, or hand delivered to the City of Yucaipa, Attention: Tara Davis, at 34272 Yucaipa Boulevard, Yucaipa, California 92399. Applicants seeking in-kind or fee waiver assistance are advised to coordinate in advance with the Community Services Department regarding required facility use applications, special event permits, or related service requests.
