The GOODS Program is a grant opportunity provided by Greater Good Charities. It aims to distribute food, essential supplies, clothing, housewares, toys, and more to pets and people in need across the world. The program helps various constituents including pets (homeless and owned), families facing economic hardships, unhoused populations, military veterans, domestic violence survivors, victims of disasters, and displaced persons. The GOODS Program works by sourcing and managing excess, re-branded, and short-dated food and supplies from donors such as manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. These products are then made available to qualified distribution groups called Ambassadors who ensure they reach the organizations in need known as Recipients. The program operates through a sustainable hub and spoke model similar to a food bank where goods are donated but costs are covered by handling fees and donations. To apply as a Recipient organization, interested parties can locate the nearest Ambassador on the program's website and apply directly through their website. For general inquiries or to inquire about grants and services, individuals can contact Greater Good Charities through their website or send checks to their designated address in Seattle, WA.

Subject to the availability of funds, awards made under this NOFO will help communities and regions devise and implement long-term economic recovery strategies through a variety of non-construction and construction projects, as appropriate, to address economic challenges in areas where a Presidential declaration of a major disaster was issued under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq.) (Stafford Act) as a result of Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, and of wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2021 and 2022. EDA is excited to announce the launch of its new grants management platform: the Economic Development Grants Experience (EDGE). EDGE was developed to streamline the application and grants management process by implementing a single platform with increased transparency, improved user experience, higher data quality, and more efficiency throughout the entire grant lifecycle. Starting April 6, 2023, applications will no longer be accepted on Grants.gov, and will ONLY be accepted through EDGE (sfgrants.eda.gov). To apply for the FY 2023 Disaster Supplemental NOFO, please access the portal here. More information on how to apply is provided in the full NOFO.

HCCF Launches Emergency Grant Round to Support Community Organizations In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Huron County Community Foundation (HCCF), in partnership with the Greater Huron County United Way, is providing emergency assistance funding to local organizations that are going above and beyond their typical operations to assist the community during this time. These grants can be used for operations costs, which is typically not a qualified grant per HCCF policies. We know that many food pantries/food banks are feeding more people, food delivery services have been enacted to feed school children who are at home, and numerous other groups have stepped up to fill gaps and support our citizens. Our goal is to “help the helpers”. The funding for these grants is made possible by a generous contribution from Meijer to the United Way and the Health and Medical endowment funds at HCCF.
