The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) intends to publish aNotice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for research to advance the diagnosis, management, and treatment of rare diseases. Each Rare Diseases Clinical Research Consortium (RDCRC) will promote highly collaborative, multi-site, patient-centric, translational, and clinical research. It is strongly encouraged that the RDCRC study outcome measures include those that address unmet clinical trial readiness needs that will move the field of research forward from its current state. This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. The NOFO is expected to be published in winter 2024, with an expected application due date in summer 2024. Final wages from salary increases should comport with or be comparable to local labor laws, standards, and prevailing wages.• Vehicle modifications and/or preservation: modifying existing vehicles used in the transportation of participants and/or installing surveillance equipment.• Telehealth: improving participant access to telehealth services.• Staff training: providing training in infection prevention and control, health, and safety.• Vehicle Purchare: Solely to be used for transporting participants to/from their residence and to/from the center for in-center services.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to issue a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for the Research Specialist Award (R50) specifically for clinician scientists supporting NCI-funded clinical trials research. The Research Specialists Award is designed to encourage the development of stable research career opportunities for exceptional clinician scientists who want to continue to participate in the NCI clinical trials networks through leadership in the 1) development of clinical trials, 2) implementation of NCI clinical trials in their institutions, and 3) national service to the NCI clinical trials networks through participation in the scientific review committees, monitoring committees and other activities, but not serve as principal investigator of research project grants. trainer program to educate, train, and prepare jail and prison staff so they are equipped to appropriately interact with people in a carceral setting who have mental illness (MI) and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This training should be developed by an institution of higher education or non-profit, for profit or tribal in conjunction with health care and corrections professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach. The training must focus on understanding behavioral health, including MI and substance use disorders, IDD, developing empathy, navigating community resources, and de-escalation skills and practical application training of those skills in a trauma-informed manner for all staff working in prisons and jails. The centerpiece of this training must be a 40-hour CIT train-the-trainer program.
