PDS Windhoek invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural ties between the United States and Namibia through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. The objective of this specific funding opportunity is to improve media literacy, reduce vulnerability to misinformation and disinformation, and/or raise awareness about the importance of media literacy and fact-checking. Proposed projects will work with an audience aged 18 to 50. Examples of activities in potentially successful proposals include, but are not limited to: Training Namibian journalists, media professionals, and journalism students on fact-checking and verification of credible sources and/or the identification of disinformation and misinformation. Conducting trainings for Namibian professionals in any relevant field that focus on media literacy and community leadership in checking the spread of misinformation and disinformation. Hosting events or trainings that promote the development of innovative technologies or solutions to strengthening media literacy and/or unmasking misinformation/disinformation (e.g., a media literacy hackathon or coding event to develop tools that support easy fact-checking or the identification of disinformation and misinformation).

This Annual Program Statement outlines our funding priorities, strategic themes, and the procedures for submitting requests for funding. Applications for programs are accepted on a rolling basis until the deadline of July 31, 2024. Each quarter, a grant review committee reviews the outstanding applications. The deadline is necessary to provide sufficient time to process and award programs in advance of the end of our fiscal year on September 30, 2024. Please carefully follow all instructions below. Purpose of Grants: PDS Brussels invites proposals for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and Belgium by highlighting shared values and promoting bilateral cooperation. Grant proposals must convey an American cultural element, support a priority program area (see below), or include a connection with American expert(s), organization(s), or institution(s) in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. Examples of projects include, but are not limited to: Academic and professional lectures, seminars, and speaker programs; Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances, and exhibitions; Youth leadership programs; Professional and academic exchanges and projects; Entrepreneurship and innovation in technological or other fields; and Sports-related programming. Priority Program Areas: Programs that promote active partnership between the United States and Belgium to address new and evolving security challenges, including disinformation; Programs that counter the influences of radicalization and violent extremism, including political extremism; Programs that offer youth leaders the opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills; Programs that build capacity in organizations seeking to strengthen social cohesion through promotion of diversity principles; and/or Programs that enable engagement with youth audiences on the enduring relevance of U.S.-Belgium historical bonds. Priority Participants and Audiences: Youth, particularly those from underserved communities; Women, particularly entrepreneurs and/or those from underserved communities; Underserved/Minority/Refugee communities; and Civil society organizations and academic institutions. The following types of projects are not eligible for funding: Projects relating to partisan political activity; Charitable or development activities; Construction projects; Projects that support specific religious activities; Fundraising campaigns; Lobbying for specific legislation or projects; Scientific research; or Projects that duplicate existing projects.

Drawing on the science of prebunking and the popularity and penetration of video games, the implementer will organize a game jam. Games developed during the United with Ukraine Game Jam will increase player skepticism of foreign propaganda and disinformation.

The U.S. Embassy New Zealand Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to develop and implement a Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Model Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) to provide emerging Pacific leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to become national and international Pacific leaders, pending the availability of funding. The program will include Young Pacific Leaders from all PIF member nations, PIF observers, and select PIF dialogue partners such as the United States (Hawaii). The program will take place at least over a year-long and will consist of 1) Young Pacific Leaders shadowing or interning with a PIF leader or Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Council of Regional Organizations of the Pacific, or similar leading up to and during the PIF leaders meeting 2) Young Pacific Leaders participating in a youth Model PIF leaders meeting and 3) three youth mock parliaments in Micronesia, Polynesia, and Melanesia. Young Pacific Leaders may be placed in their home governments or in a host government. The YPL PIF program should emphasize experiential learning and capacity building in order to equip diverse participants with the tools they need for success. Priority Region: Australia, the Cook Islands, Fiji, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Islands of French Polynesia, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Norfolk Island, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Rapa Nui, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, and U.S. partners from the American-affiliated Pacific including American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Hawaii.
