This funding opportunity provides financial support to invited organizations for programs that improve mental health and wellness services for law enforcement personnel, including peer support, training, and suicide prevention initiatives.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) invites applicants who received an official request from BJA to apply for funding to offset costs in response to the law enforcement emergency that occurred in Rochester Hills, Michigan on June 15, 2024. OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety, protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. With this solicitation, BJA seeks to provide funding for emergency situations in which state and local resources are inadequate to protect the lives and property of citizens and/or to enforce criminal law. BJA is authorized to distribute funds to help offset the costs of an adequate response to an uncommon situation that requires law enforcement, that is or threatens to become of serious or epidemic proportions, and with respect to which state and local resources are inadequate to protect the lives and property of citizens or to enforce the criminal law. This program furthers the DOJs mission to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights.

With this solicitation, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention seeks to invite eight applications for funding to support States and Territories with Training and Technical Assistance related to the Formula Grants Program authorized under title II, part B of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA).

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks to fund mentoring organizations to enhance and expand mentoring services for children and youth who are at risk or high risk for delinquency, victimization, and juvenile justice system involvement.

The SFY 2025 Police Recruitment and Retention (PRAR) Grant Program, funded by the State of Maryland's Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy, is designed to support state and local law enforcement agencies in their efforts to recruit and retain qualified sworn police officers. The program recognizes the essential role of law enforcement officers as first responders and aims to ensure agencies have adequate staffing to fulfill their mission, contributing to a safer Maryland. The grant offers various incentives for recruitment and retention, including bonuses for bilingual proficiency, veterans, recent college graduates, and more. The program also covers advertising support, external recruitment services, health club memberships, uniform allowances, and tuition reimbursement among other benefits. Applications must be submitted online through the Grants Management System by May 10th, 2024, with funding available from July 1st, 2024, to June 30th, 2025. The total funding anticipated under this program is $1,300,000, expecting to make up to 50 awards ranging between $10,000 and $300,000.

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks applications for funding to assist jurisdictions in planning and assessing promising and evidence-based prevention and intervention services that will inform the development of a community-based continuum of care for youth at risk of becoming or already involved in the juvenile justice system. The long-term goal of this effort is to support sustainable, research-based, and data-informed recidivism-reduction policies, practices, and programming, and the strategic reinvestment of cost savings realized through accompanying reforms into effective prevention and intervention programs for our nations youth.

The SFY 2025 Local Warrant Apprehension & Absconding Grant Program (WAAG), funded by the State of Maryland's Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy, aims to support local law enforcement agencies in reducing the number of open warrants, particularly those for violent crimes, and in apprehending individuals who have absconded from court-ordered drug and/or alcohol treatment facilities. The program is designed to improve the quality of life and create safer communities by reducing violent crime through the effective apprehension of wanted individuals. This initiative supports coordinated criminal justice strategies and enhances data availability for informed decision-making. The program anticipates a minimum of $2,000,000 in grant funding and plans to make up to 35 awards ranging from $10,000 to $150,000. Applications that do not meet the minimum or exceed the maximum award allocation may be removed during the initial technical review. The funding is contingent upon final approval of the budget by Maryland’s General Assembly.

The COPS Office is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications for funding for the FY24 CPD Accreditation: Enhancing Existing Law Enforcement Accreditation Entities program. Community Policing Development (CPD) funds are used to develop the capacity of law enforcement to implement community policing strategies by providing guidance on promising practices through the development and testing of innovative strategies; building knowledge about effective practices and outcomes; and supporting new, creative approaches to preventing crime and promoting safe communities. FY24 Enhancing Existing Law Enforcement Accreditation Entities CPD program funds will support existing law enforcement accreditation bodies in their mission to engage law enforcement agencies in the accreditation process.

The COPS Office has been appropriated more than $20 billion to advance community policing, including grants awarded to more than 13,000 state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies to fund the hiring and redeployment of more than 136,000 officers. The program supports full service sexual assault crisis programs across Maryland, providing services to victims of rape and sexual offenses. It aims to improve victim services, ensuring safety, and making the community aware of rights and resources​​. The Sexual Assault/Rape Crisis Grant Program is funded through state general funds to support local rape crisis centers. Services are provided through a network of community-based rape crisis programs and are available in every jurisdiction in Maryland. These funds are used to provide services to adult and child victims of rape and other sexual offenses. Services to victims include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, medical accompaniment, and assistance in accessing and using other support services such as legal assistance.

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks to assist states in planning, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs to improve their juvenile justice system.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) is a funding initiative that provides financial support to state and local law enforcement agencies for a range of criminal justice activities, including law enforcement, court programs, education, corrections, drug treatment, victim support, and technology improvements.

This program is authorized by 34 U.S.C. 20122 the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, Public Law No. 118-42. In FY 2023, OVW made an award to Activating Change to implement Phase Two of a two-part initiative focusing on the expansion and strengthening of services for Deaf victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Specifically, Activating Change was funded to implement the recommendations outlined in Expanding Deaf-Specific Victim Services Nationwide: A 5-Year Strategy report (Report). This program will provide continued funding for the implementation of the recommendations outlined in the Report.

This funding opportunity provides financial support to the Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition for developing resources and training to address sexual assault issues affecting American Indian and Alaska Native women, in collaboration with key partners.
