The Volunteer Fire Capacity (VFC) Program is a federally funded grant program that allows California to provide local and rural fire departments with minor firefighting, training, communications and safety equipment for their volunteer firefighters. The VFC Program is not intended for major equipment (fire engines, vehicles, etc.) or Capital repairs. The VFC Program has a 50/50 match requirement which means that the applying department must be able to meet the intended grant award, dollar for dollar. Awards for departments are set at a minimum of $500 with a maximum of $20,000. Amounts may be adjusted based on the grant funding available. This program provides funding to support the establishment and operation of specialized court systems in Pennsylvania that focus on reducing impaired driving through judicial training and dedicated probation officers.

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) is one of four grant programs that constitute DHS/FEMAs focus on transportation infrastructure security activities. These grant programs are part of a comprehensive set of measures authorized by Congress and implemented by the Administration to help strengthen the nations critical infrastructure against risks associated with potential terrorist attacks. The PSGP provides funds to state, local, and private sector maritime partners to support increased port-wide risk management and protect critical surface transportation infrastructure from acts of terrorism, major disasters, and other emergencies. The PSGP supports critical national seaports/terminals to enhance port security through enhanced facility and operational security. PSGP allows for a broad range of projects to be funded as long as they are applicable to enhancing maritime security capabilities. The entire breadth of the POETE (planning, operational, equipment, training, and exercise) is allowable under PSGP. The United Airlines Trust Fund was established in recognition of Siouxland's response to the United Flight 232 incident in 1989. This grant supports organizations and government units within a 50-mile radius of Sioux City, Iowa. Eligible entities include 501(c)(3) organizations and qualified government units. The fund allocates two-thirds of its annual net income to scholarships and one-third to community grants. These grants support projects promoting public safety, health care, crisis management, and community preparedness, with a focus on social services, education, and training of public personnel. Grants typically do not exceed $2,500, and the selection is based on proposal merit, relative need, and potential community impact. Grant renewed every year. The FY23-24 Drone Replacement Program is funded by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to assist agencies in replacing non-compliant drones with those from approved manufacturers. The program was established following the 2022 amendment of Section 934.50, Florida Statutes, mandating agencies using non-compliant drones to replace them by specific deadlines. Eligible agencies will receive funds based on the initial purchase price and total flight hours of the non-compliant drones, following a detailed depreciation schedule. Recipients are required to relinquish the non-compliant drones in working condition to FDLE, which will then be analyzed by the Florida Center for Cybersecurity at the University of South Florida. Criminal Justice Information Data Security: Acceptance of this award, constitutes understanding that transmission of Criminal Justice Information (CJI) between locations must be encrypted to conform to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy.

This program provides funding to state and local government forensic laboratories to improve their DNA processing capabilities, reduce backlogs, and enhance public safety through faster criminal investigations.

This grant is designed to support licensed emergency medical services that have been operational for at least 12 months. It aims to fund the purchase of equipment, vehicles, and training materials to help improve response times and patient outcomes. Eligible entities include county/city governments, volunteer/non-profit organizations, and other eligible services. The funding requests can cover training, communications equipment, ambulances, emergency response vehicles, and specific medical equipment. Ineligible entities include private for-profit services and state agencies that do not meet the volunteer staffing requirement of 51% or more. Grant renewed every year. The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) is offering a grant of $2000 for projects that address urgent, unforeseen situations on designated water trails, with the aim of creating recreational opportunities, supporting sustainable use of natural resources, and improving access to Pennsylvania Water Trails.

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) Bureau of  Nutrition and Physical Activity (BNPA) administers funds provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the operation of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program (BFPC) for the State of Arizona. The USDA nutrition programs are discretionary, and each provides a specific service to women, infants, and children who are low-income and at nutritional risk. The overall goal of all the USDA Nutrition Programs is to increase food security and reduce hunger by providing eligible participants access to nourishing food and supportive nutrition education. ADHS is working with the counties to provide WIC services, and this opportunity is to provide additional community support as needed.  Financial Notes: N/A

Governor Brian P. Kemp has allocated up to $110 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to address backlogs of court cases in Georgia, especially those involving serious violent felonies. This funding aims to help courts, prosecutors, public defenders, and related agencies by providing resources for additional staff, temporary workspaces, and facilities to handle the backlog. Priority is given to superior courts dealing with serious violent felony cases due to their impact on public safety and the judicial system. The Judicial Council of Georgia's Ad Hoc Committee on American Rescue Plan Act Funding (ARPA Committee) will oversee the distribution of $96 million in ARPA grants to authorized trial courts, appellate courts, prosecutors, and related agencies, excluding municipal courts. An additional $14 million is allocated to public defenders and managed by the Georgia Public Defender Council. The next application period for these grants is expected from August 30 to September 20, 2024, with further application periods scheduled depending on the needs of the Judicial Branch. The total funding anticipated under this program is $1,300,000, expecting to make up to 50 awards ranging between $10,000 and $300,000.
