Description: The Idaho Fire Chief’s Association (IFCA) is proud to announce the 2024 Fire Fighter License Plate (FFLP) grant program, now in its 24th year. This initiative, funded through the Idaho Fire Fighter’s License Plate (FFLP) Fund, aims to enhance fire safety education across Idaho by providing grants to eligible organizations. Since its inception, over $850,000 has been awarded to support fire safety education programs. For 2024, approximately $75,000 is available for distribution, with awards covering up to 75% of the grant fund balance as of July 1, 2024. Applications must align with legislative guidelines, focusing exclusively on fire safety education for firefighters, fire chiefs, and the general public. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) seeks applications to fund safety and security projects at nonprofit organizations at risk of hate crimes or attacks because of their ideology, beliefs, or mission. Approximately $25 million to $60 million is expected to be made available to fund approximately 125-300 projects throughout New York State. Should additional funding become available, DCJS intends to meet as much of the requested needs as possible. Applications will be accepted for up to $200,000 per organization. Each eligible organization may submit one (1) application for one or more physical security enhancements and/or cybersecurity enhancements. Organizations can submit for different types of enhancements within their application (e.g., locks and alarm system) so long as the total requested by the organization is equal to, or less than, $200,000. Organizations may submit applications for projects at facilities that have received any prior SCAHC funding if the proposed project is different than any previously funded projects or builds upon or enhances the security measures previously undertaken. All funding must support project related costs that will be incurred during the contract period. Funding under this program must supplement, not supplant, non-grant funds that would otherwise be available.

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) is inviting proposals for source water protection projects. Funding is authorized through section 1452 of the Safe Drinking Water Act as administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy. The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is seeking applications for its Victim Witness Grant Program (VWGP). This program provides financial support to local victim witness and statewide victim assistance programs. Furthermore, eligible projects must promote community collaboration, assist victims in seeking crime victim compensation benefits through the Virginia Victims Fund (VVF), and actively involve volunteers in grant-funded activities. Recipients are also required to provide program information to other victim assistance agencies, maintain statutorily required civil rights statistics, offer services free of charge, maintain confidentiality, and serve victims of federal crimes on the same basis as state/local crimes. The Volunteer Fire Capacity (VFC) Program is a federally funded grant program that allows California to provide local and rural fire departments with minor firefighting, training, communications and safety equipment for their volunteer firefighters. The VFC Program is not intended for major equipment (fire engines, vehicles, etc.) or Capital repairs. The VFC Program has a 50/50 match requirement which means that the applying department must be able to meet the intended grant award, dollar for dollar. Awards for departments are set at a minimum of $500 with a maximum of $20,000. Amounts may be adjusted based on the grant funding available. Preference is given to innovative, broad based, interdisciplinary programs that integrate multiple engineering fields, include community outreach, and are collaborative across organizations. Projects outside an organization’s routine operations are preferred. Multiple year proposals are welcome, but funding is awarded one year at a time, and projects must be performed between January and December of the grant year. Proposals specifying that funds will not offset existing staff salaries are preferred. Eligible applicants are U.S. based organizations classified as 501(c)(3). Technical research proposals and proposals by individuals are seldom accepted. Proposals must meet submission deadlines and page limitations established by the foundation.
